My New Boat
I bought a new boat Wednesday.
I bought a 1992 Champion 184 SCR, with a beautiful finish, great carpet and seats, Eagle Fish Elite color gps Mariner 175 magnum EFI Motorguide Wireless TM..the TM is a 45 lb and is coming off as its too small. I have a 24 Minn Kota 65 AT that will be going on..hope it's big enough. If I can, I'll post a few pics |

Sweet lookin' ride you got there, Ron. Shame that wireless TM is too small. That sounds like it would be fun to try.

Nice boat!
I dunno about the TM, I have a 55# on my (I believe heavier) boat that seems to do just fine even in a good breeze. I've even used it (at speeds 4 and 5) for true trolling up the lake.

Very nice rig there pal. 18 and a half footer.....yeah, you need a bigger troller for that. I have a 20 footer with a 56# troller, NOT enough, i am gonna get me an 82# thrust troller. You MIGHT be able to trade the other 2 trollers for a larger one. If at all possible get you as large a troller as possible. You will NEVER regret the power. Trust me on this one please. When i fish in the spring and a big gust of wind comes along, i am pushing myself out with a pole of paddle cause i am in the grass. Also happens in the summertime as well. I AM getting me a larger troller this year.

I really like those mid-nineties Champs. The fastest boat I have ridden in was a 96 or 97 Champ. Looks like you got a great boat.

Thanks everyone!
I found the boat on Craigslist, he was askin $4700, the nearest Champion dealer said "buy it now!"....he came down a good bit. I do have a 65lb Minn kota that will be going on for now. I will put the Motorguide on my 16.5 boat before I list it for sale around tax refund time. I can see an 80lb Min Kota coming maybe next year...gotta stay in the 24v range, no place for a fourth battery. I bought a new Merc tempest plus 24 pitch prop for it today and will pick it up next weekend. The seller showed me on the GPS he was getting 56mph with the alum prop...hope the stainless gets me to 60 or above. Ron |

Old school Champions......I absolutley love them....and I might add you definately got THE RIGHT motor on her. Hopefully they have done the setup right. I know of several Champs like yours with the same motor that run high 60's ALL day long and yeah thats loaded. With out a doubt the BEST riding boat out there in my opinion.

Hey Ron, again, great looking boat. You'll definately be over 60 with that tempest if everything is setup right. I have a 80lb foretrex on my champ and wouldn't trade it for anything. It cam with a 57lb and I didn't like that at all. You got a heck of a deal on it and I'm sure you will be very very happy with her.

You can get a 82#thrust that uses 2 bateries.
