13 Mar 2011 - Lake Guntersville/Nickajack Fishing Report –This report covers the last three days, I was joined by Alex from Minnesota on 11th and 12 March Rob from MO on Lake Nickajack for a little pre-tournament orientation. Today, Tommy and Trey from Nolensville TN returning clients joined me on Lake Guntersville. The water temperature on both lakes for the most part was 50-55.5 Degrees all though today Guntersville did climb to 60 in one cove. Mostly cloud on Friday with full sun yesterday and today. The river is still a raging torrent at 120,000+ CFS flow rate and muddy on the main channel, we are seeing some clearing to a stained level today on Guntersville in the creeks. We fished the middle to lower end using rattle traps, square billed crank baits, Brush Hogs, Tightline Jigs and swim baits. We managed to catch a several good keeper fish working 1/2oz football Jigs in the Guntersville Special color with Mega Craws as the trailer and square bill crank baits on Nickajack. Today, on Guntersville it was all Square Bill’s with one exception of a nice 2.5 – 3 pound fish on a speed worm. If you are going to be on the water this week please wear your life vest the river system is extremely dangerous with all the stuff/garbage floating. I have a few of days available at the end of March and I’m already booking days for the April and May, make your reservations now for some great action on Guntersville. “Let’s go fish’ in”
