Windy Very windy for most of the time
29 Sept – 3 Oct 2010 - Lake Guntersville – This report covers the last five days on Lake Guntersville. Water temp’s have come down and stabilized in the mid 70’s. With the change in weather pattern that we saw over the past week, it will not be long before we see a robust top water bite. Thursday we started at BB Comer working our way down to Goose Pond area, we found fish in 6-8 FOW using flukes, spinner baits and of course frogs. The frog bite is still not what it should be…we had 6 blow ups all day and only hooked up one. Friday, I fished with a couple great guy’s from East Tennessee pre-fishing for a tournament; we put in a Allred’s and fished the lower end. We found our best fish in 3-6 FOW around scattered grass. We fought high winds all weekend for the most part, which on prevented us from fishing the main channel for the most part. When we where able to get out there we found fish on the back side of the channel grass in 8-12 FOW right where we had them last week. Each day produced 15-25 fish that would have been a good limit of 11-18 pounds. To sum it the past week up, I’d classify it as “tough” our most dependable bite remains a fluke worked in 4-8 foot of water in scattered grass…while almost all our better fish came from the back side of the channel mats and hard structure using jigs/t-rigged Mag-II worms. We did see some what of an improvement on top water buzz baits Thursday; however it quickly shut down with the arrival of strange winds from the north/northwest. Water color ranges from extremely stained to clear depending on what area of the lake your fishing. It actually appeared that the lake was turning over on Friday and Saturday with some water being almost black in color. Guntersville is primed for a great fall bite to start any day now. The shad have started to stage on the front side of the pockets, points and some have moved inside pockets for warmer water. Make your reservations for a trip soon we have few dates available for last two weeks of October and have already started booking into 1st week of November...."Let's go fish'in
