Dec 1-6, 2012 Lake Guntersville – This report is for the past week on Guntersville, most days it was a challenge and you had to really work to find good bass. Stripe and crappie on the other hand have been on fire. Today, I spent a few hours with my partner Capt Mike Gerry testing some new lures from YeeHa Swimbaits, locating fish for trips this coming week and just fun fishing. For a four hour trip we had what I’d call a great day for the way Guntersville has been fishing, end the day with a boat load of stripe and a couple solid limits of bass with our best fish hitting the scales just over 6 pounds. We found our fish in 3-15 FOW mainly in Tightline football head jigs with Missile Baits trailers, YeeHa Swimbaits and Alabama Rigs. Water temperatures are remaining steady for now, on all three lakes at 57 to 60 degrees and creeks ranging from 57-59 degrees. With the cooler nights the fishing should improve from here on out as the bass and crappie are feeding for the winter. We’re taking reservations for the winter and spring months already; I have days and guides available make your reservations now for winter action on Guntersville or Tim’s Ford.
