Sunny

Today was a great day on the "Big-G". I decided to do some fishing up river since I was by myself and see if the fish had turned on to shallow crankbaits yet, and boy did they ever. Each area that had structure and grass humps that stuck out into the river was holding fish, and most of the time they were good quality fish. This patten always holds true this time of year and will only get better as the colder weather approaches. It's one pattern though that can be a blast to do this time of year when every thing else seems to slow down. I had a couple of trips last week that were just that, "slow"! We tried areas of deep grass and had some success slow rolling spinnerbaits and even though we had some good quality fish each day we just could not get a lot of them. I hated to try this up river pattern on a guide trip not knowing how this pattern was producing just yet, but after today I've seen that it's doing a lot better than I expected. The water being down right now just helps the fishing up river that much more by pulling the fish more out on the edges of these areas and making them a littler easier to catch. I have a few more pics from today on my website. Have fun, Mike Carter
