Oconee River Fishing Report

Sunny and warm. Temperature near 80 degrees.
Met up with my fishin' buddy Tom "PawPaw" Reese yesterday morning to go search for some Oconee river bass. After enjoying "Uncle Hershel's breakfast Special" at Cracker Barrel, it was off to the boat ramp. We went to his "favorite spot" and found the river low and only slightly stained. It was pretty cool to start with but warmed up nicely by the afternoon. As for fishing... The day started slow. I landed the first of mine on a Black Buzzbait but after Tom started reeling them in using a Junebug trick worm, I quickly realized the buzzbait was not gonna be the preferred choice of our finned friends. After floating down river about 3 miles, we pulled over for a quick lunch break around 12:30... The dinner bell must have rang for the largies too because the action picked up quite a bit after went got back at it. A rare thing soon happened... reeling in one of mine... I yelled to Tom that there was one swimming along side the one I had hooked... Tom said "leave 'em in the water". He threw a worm down beside my fish and "WHAM" he got the straggler too. A double! Together we caught 22 on the day. No hawgs today, but plenty of fun. All but a few were caught on plastic worms. A great day to be on the water....
