Hot and breezy Friday probably mid 80's
The lake was flooded and way up, Denny and I fished in the back of malcom creek and then ran towards the dam and hit several coves mid way from the dam to Moors resort. Water was a little clearer on the main lake and many many patterns the entire trip worked, shallow crankbaits, c rig on ledges or searching points or islands, jigs and top water.
Most of the time we kept the boat in eight ft or deeper water and fished about 5 feet.
The most common structure was button brush that was submerged and trees everywhere that were in peoples yards but now submerged.
A ton of dinks we caught but almost all our bigger fish were in front of trees.
Spinnerbaits rolled slow, one half ounce with Smittys skirts on them in shad with a few strands of black or blue, double willow number three blades, no trailer. The crankbait bite was on for us in shallow water, running it though willow trees in the water or button brush, got hung up alot but part of the game.
Sat. it was dark that we switched to tenn shad bandit 100 and the fish nailed them, Denny ended up with eight keepers over fifteen and I got nine, plus a handful of dinks so small or about twelve inches.
The bite slowed down by noon and the evening fishing produced a few big fish but more dinks. the morning bite was better.
Some of the lures used in top water were buzzbaits with 3D kickers skirts in shad on them, chatterbaits with same skirts got me a lot of fish, and the blk and silver popR.
Crankbaits used were rootbeer/chartreuse one hundred bandit, the two hundred didnt produce as much.
The pattern used on the bigger trees was that we looked for one that were in front of the big line of other trees, same with button brush, then the bigger fish seems to hit when you ran the lure parallel to the tree in deeper water.
