Sunny with 20 mph winds - weatherman lied again
Well we fished about a 10-12 mile range between athens and kingston bridge. was some what slow start, found fish just couldnt get them to bite. Checked a couple creeks, water was colder there actually got a temp of 58 degrees in one. Did a lot of jig flipping and cranking.
Jigs were slow but slammed a nice bucket mouth. Biggest one this year for me. Didnt have a scale, or so i thought. Got her in boat took some pics length just about 23-24 in. after release about 15 min goes by and mike remembers he has a scale in his over sized gut bustin bag. I did some vertical jiging on channel edge which wacked a few nice 20 in stripers mixed in with the bass. Surprizing no pike this outing with some of the spots we hit.
Winds kept pickin up so we worked our way back to Catskill. Funny thing with winds outa south here. They can get up to the 4-5 foot range. And they did. Now I run a 911 center DC which generally stay extreamly dry. Not today, we took 3 over the nose. Yep 1st was funny the next 2 were not. But that river fishin..
