Water up and a little muddy from rain last couple days.
I hear a lot of people saying stripers are on their way out. Well hate to burst their bubble but when you catch them and their eggs are still green they havent spawned yet.
there has been a lot of smaller fish in the 20 - 28 in range but that happins. that may be the larger school size now. every fish caught by myself or friends this week have still had green eggs. Yesterday I was out snooping around some and was marking a large number of fish working the channel like it was middle of striper season. Bait will be the hard thing to acquire as the next couplke weeks goes by but the stripers are not gone yet. After this week I expect to see a lot or spawning going on as water temp rises to the 63 degree safe zone.
Another thing is these fish DO NOT lay eggs like a large mouth bass. They are free spawners and there eggs hatch in about 48 hrs. When you see fish rolling on surface its the males bumping a female to the surface and forcing eggs out.
