Or I can save you alot of time. There is no such thing as best all the time. There is always a best for a certain situation. For example. I catch alot of fish on a tube. If the fish are aggresive I would probably catch more on a spinnerbait. But then the guy behind me might be catching more on a crankbait. Then the guy behind him might be catching more on a different color crankbait. and on and on and on................
I'm not trying to sound like a jerk. It's just the truth. Cajunbass said it best "A lure is just a tool" There is a wealth of fishing knowledge on this board. You can also have alot of fun while learning. Don't be discouraged from asking questions. Pay attention though and alot of your questions will be answered without having to ask. |

There is no answer because of the variety of conditions we face. For example, I love fishing medium depth crankbaits, but they're not gonna do me any good in the weedy water I so often fish.

okay lemme try my hand at this, One day, they may be hitting a certain lure, lets say for instance a red shad power worm. The next day, at a different time it may be a rat l trp or a jig. Like these guys said a lure is a tool, just like you rod reel and line is a tool. They are all tools to locate and catch fish. Also, try to pattern the bass. this is when you figure out when they feed and what they feed on at certain times and conditions.

I agree with the others-there ain't no such animal. However, there are arguably best lures for certain conditions. For example, in 48 degree water a buzzbait is probably not going to be too effective. A jig-n-pig or a suspending jerkbait is a whole different story. In the summer, though, early morning or late around grass mats and in cover a buzzbait is tough to beat. Different tools for different jobs.

There is no BEST bait for any time. In some situations, one lure might be highly preferable over another, but it matters what you specialize in. I guarantee you, that if the conditions were prime for spinnerbaiting and I was throwing one, that Denny Brauer could beat me by using a jig, just cause he is so skilled with them.

get yourself a zook-n-stein or a grubbin zook...they are very expensive(make lucky craft look like a dollar store item)..but you won't need any other baits except for a 4"red shad powerworm.

Lizards,
Your becoming predictable ;D NJ, The best bait is the one you can afford and most importantly the one you are most comfortable with. Last year I would never have listed a plastic lizard as my "best" but now that I have forced myself to use it more I find it creeping its way up my list of favorites. Kybasser |

I'd have to say a buzz bait is a pretty good bait, but then again a plastic worm is a pretty good bait too, well a crank bait is a pretty good bait too, let me see...then ..all this I keep hearing about lizards...and then a zook-n-stein..i would hazard a guess and think those scare the bass to bite..

I personally think that Red Shad and Tequila Worms are the best way to bass fish. They are pretty cheap to. E-mail me back if you decide to use them. Thanks, Adam Flaharty.
P.S. If there is any bait that works really good and you don't mind referring to me please do! |
