Default Lizards

Lizards, Have you bought any Snake baits in your buying sprees ? They have them at Bass pro shop here in NY for $1.49 a pack so I bought some. I caught quite a few bass on them already. ;D P N J

Now you know Me and Snakes just don't see eye to eye. I would probably stomp it, stab it and shoot it before I realized it was a Bait Then after I realized it was a bait, I get ticked all over again. So no I have not bought any of them. I would rather just not look at them or a picture of them, or any other thing that even resembles them. Notice I did not respond to any of the last snake post we've had :-X . But as you can tell I've bought a lot of reels 8)

Burke used to make one (i think thats who) that had a realistic foam head, and a soft plastic tail that was awesome! Too bad they havent been around for years missed a lot of fish on them at the time but with todays class of hooks they would be deadly.

Hey Lizardsrule,
Sorry about the disagreement that took place earlier.
I didn't mean to get into an argument reference the situation at hand. Please except my apologies.

Thanks,

kj, if you are walking in the woods and you see a snake under a log off to the side minding its own, shooting it would be girlish and pathetic of you, LETTING IT GO as in not messing with it would be the proper thing to do.....you know if snakes were so bad for us, and if they were meant to harm you unprovoked, im sure god would of not placed thm here.

bassfisher, if you would read what i said earlier one more time you would see that i said the damn snake came right up to the boat. i didn't chase him or provoke him in the least. if you want to cuddle with them in your boat then more power to you but that doesn't make you a tough man at all, idiot maybe. i don't hunt them down to kill them but when they aren't affraid of me then i have absolutley no tolerance for them. and if you are gonna talk religion then maybe you will remember that the snake is a sign of satan.

some snakes are curious...i just dont like people killing snakes for no reason. my stepdad had a snake fall in his boat, all he did was simply take his paddle and helped the snake into the water....theres no need to kill a snake. now if it is about to bite you, or someone around you, then yes, kill a snake...but for no reason, that would be wrong. and im not saying you did, all this was never really even directed towards you.......i stated about the term ''let it go'', you said i would have to be holding a snake to let it go, and i replied with a hypethetical situation. not saying you killed a snake, just using ''let it go'' in another meaning other then having to handle it. i guess you thought that reply to your post was directed towards you, to be honest, i didnt even read your post about the snake and boat till after i posted my reply...it wasnt about you. its about not killing a snake just to kill a snake.....and i dont see how i am trying to look more like a big man just cause i pick up a snake? i never said that, all i said is that you guys need to stop being so afraid of them and killing them....sure be afraid all you want..i dont care, but dont kill them.

well we will just have to agree to disagree i guess, because i don't know where you are but here in missouri snakes are getting out of hand, so like i said i don't hunt them down or even look for them but i don't think twice about killing them if THEY get close to me. and i wouldn't even say i am scared of snakes...i said they are nasty and i hate them. but no hard feelings anyways, no need to be upset of a different opinion but boy your opinion is way different than mine!

So whats the big deal with a snake. You see a snake swimming towards you, its just swimming to an area towards you. Snakes have places to go in order to catch food and they are not gonna bother you one bit if you just let them go. They'll just slither on by and if you don't mind it, it won't mind you.

For those of you that have shimano reels, Take the reel off the rod and throw the reel at the snake. That should make him angry so you have a chance to whup him to death with your trusty ol' Lunker rod. Note : Do not retrieve the reel and buy a different brand next time you purchase a new reel. ;D Thank You for those who follow my advice, you will become a better fisherman in the near future. If your sentimental about your Shimano reels , throw your freinds Shimano reels at the snake , it should still work, I know I would be p*ssed to think I only rated a Shimano reel over all of the better brands out there. ;D ;D ;D P N J

I believe in letting differences pass after they have been shared. I appreciated that you made this post, and I'm impressed. Most folks wouldn't have done that No hard feelings, and thanks

As long as they're plastic I LOVE LIZARDS, but if they are alive and moving, I agree. I don't like any reptiles, frogs either. I know it's weird being I love the outdoors so much. But dang if all those suckers don't make me jump all the time.

02, and Hula,

As for snakes not coming at you or your boat, I have to disagree. A snake will climb right up an oar or anything else to get in your boat. If you don't believe this than you haven't been out in the water on a boat enough. When down in Florida, Art actually had one he threw his bait at while it was swimming right at us. The dang thing bit his senko, and wouldn't let go. He wanted me to take a picture of it, but I must say I wasn't doing anything other than watch that snake to make sure he didn't bring it into the boat for any reason. Finally he shook it off. I've also seen a snake climb right up an oar into a boat with a couple of wpmen in it. Man that was hilarious to watch, but I would have done the same thing, and felt bad for laughing after words. Snakes do come to where you are. And by the way, they will go after you plastic lizards also. I have seen them coming at my lizards too many times to count, I just reel as fast as I can to get it away from them. I've also caught 4 frogs on lizards. When I see one swimming at me I yell, splash the water, anything I can to make them go away. But until they are right up close to you and they see/feel the movements they just keep coming. And I pormise you if one is that close to me, and I have something to whack it with I will, without any compulsion about it. I've had a rattle snake try to bite me(couldn't get through my ARMY boots) as I'm walking through a ravine. I've seen rattlers mating next to a guy(actually I came up just as they killed them) in a sleeping bag, and as he started to move, not knowing they were there, and they raised up to bite him. Luckily he froze when he was yelled at, and the snakes were removed for GOOD. So to say they aren't dangerous, and won't come at you is incorrect. Perhaps most of the time they will avoid you, but I'm here to tell you that isn't always the case. Perhaps you 2 should go join Steve Irwin, and catch some snakes, and talk about how beautiful they are. But if they come around me, they will be food for the critters/fish/turtles.

steve irwin is a freak! i have never had an experience like that, and look were i live, going into the woods gaurentees yoy a look at one. remember way back when the irish used sticks to scare the snakes? that will work with you to. when they beat the stcks together it gave out vibrations and scared the snakes away, if you walk hard, they will run. you have to remember, they are trying to survive, and if they feel something that big moving towards them, they will opt to run. some snakes are curious, but thats nature....they will come up to your boat, but if you beat the boat with your paddle, the vibes will scare it off. btw, most snakes you encounter, especially in the water, will be non venomous, here in florida, i think we only have 12 or something poisonous snakes. so somewhere like indiana is not gunna have as many. next time a snake comes near you, before thinkin about killing it, jump up and down, or if in a boat, beat the boat with a paddle, and if they dont run, then kill it. and dont think im some peta freak, i have killed my share of snakes, and aboput everything else including dogs,(thats about the worst thing to do, having to stab a dog in the neck, but if its trying to bite you, theres not much choice) so just make vibrations before you kill a snake next time, if they dont move, kill it, now this is only if they are in your generakl area, if there is one 10' of the path or what not, just walk past it.

02 If you jump up and down in the boat you're gonna scare the fish. Smacking the snake with a boat paddle makes less noise ;D
