I have a line question?

What is your fav. braided line and why? I was thinking of trying braided line but don't know the differents between spiderwire, stren super braid, fireline, or suffix and so on. Also what are your thoughts on using braids for crankbaits? Thanks alot guys

Power Pro, I hate spiderwire, and suffix to me is almost like spiderwire.

Power Pro is my favorite, not too soft, not too stiff, rounder, doesn't dig as bad. IMO

On spinning reels I prefer fused lines like Fireline and Microfuse. These lines are a little wirey and I find I don't get as many wind knots or tangles as with traditional braids.

On baitcasters I prefer standard braids, they seem to come off the spool a little better and don't dig in as much as fused lines. Honestly, I think the difference in performance between the brands is pretty small, but I'd say my favorite is Sufix.

Personally I prefer fluorocarbon or copolymer lines for crankbaits.

Bryan is right about the negligible difference in performance between braids on baitcasting reels. Sufix does handle well, but it's a very light-colored moss green that seems to fade brighter than others. I've been testing Stren's new Sonic Braid and like it so far. Super Braid performs well for pitching and flipping and I generally go with Stealth for long cast presentations.

power pro is probable the most popular braid and for a good reason, it's a great braid. i am currently using stealth on my flipping stick, against my better knowledge. i was fishing with a tourney partner a while back that was using stealth and i used it on one of his rods for a little bit and was suprised at how well i liked it, so i thought i would give it a shot. it's still a little too soon to come to any conclusions but so far i have to say that i was suprised and it hasn't let me down yet, and i have been pretty rough on it.

currently using power pro. some real CLOSE friends gave me a spool. GREAT STUFF!! cuts through what we call "gator vines" and lily pads (including da stalks) like mad. and this leads me to a question. not meaning to steal the thread, how often does one replace braid? what should one look for to know when to replace it? thanks.

Another vote for Power Pro.

I'm planning on respooling my cranking rod back to mono because of visibility.

I think braid is a must when jiggin.

I use braid for everything......even in clear open water. I only use 20 pound test so the thin diameter should help with the visibility.

As far as cranks with braid, many suggest to not use it as there isn't any stretch. However, you can cast farther with braid and it tends to hold onto your expensive lucky crafts a little better. Because of the lack of stretch, many people pull the hook from the bass mouth before getting the fish to the boat. I use braid with cranks and rarely have a problem. I just keep the line taught and don't pull to hard.

Cranks / braid and fiberglass rod are my ticket..

I know it is hard to find good glass anymore..

I like Power Pro and Suffix. Suffix color will rub off on your guides faster and is a little more stiff than Power Pro. I prefer Power Pro a little more than Suffix. I will get Suffix when I can't find the test pound line I am looking for in Power Pro.

I to use P-Pro but a few weeks ago at a 2 day tourny I had a blow up on my Revo one of those ones where you know that its done so put it away.
I went to the only place in town that sells line all they had was Stren braid so I gave it a go and its still on there havent seen anything wrong with it yet.
