hey guys
how long do you think a deep cycle stowaway battery would last using a trolling motor, specifically an endura 36 lb thrust. |

Your using one or two batteries for trolling?
On a windy day my guess is 10 hours |

If your beating the bank and really using the trolling motor alot on a normal day, the wieght of the boat and its contents effects how long you fish, If your a run and gun type fisherman on a big lake, That battery should do ya fine all day IMO

CAT,
Â* Â* It is going to depend on the Amp/Hr size of your battery. If it is a 650 CCA battery, it is not going to last as long as a 1190 CCA battery. To get a close estimation of how long the battery will last, find the Amp/Hr drain of your trolling motor and divide that number into the CCA number of your battery. The literature that came with your TM should give you the Amp/Hr drain, and the CCA is listed on the front of your battery. (CCA means Cold Cranking Amps) JackL |

Great point JackL
the speed you cruise on has some to do with the draining of the battery too... if you do happen to have it on full thrust , keep in mind that after you have set idle for a few minutes fishing out something, if you have to do a hard left or right turn, TELL the nonboater you're going to turn, I have flipped a few guys almost off the boat by starting up the trolling motor and going 90 degrees left or right, the sudden thrust will throw most , I know I have been caught by my belt before by buddies to keep me from going in,,esp after you get hung up |

Good point, JB. Another is to be aware of what the TM is set to-I've almost dumped myself a couple of times when I forget I have it on high.

I normally sit while fishing for the most part. So it never fails, that I have been cruising somewhere fast, and then decide to stand up and I hit the foot control. I'm lurching everywhich way to keep from falling over. Plus you always have a rod and reel in your hand, so you don't have free hands. Lizards |

![]() You are all learning one of the good points of the Minkota Maxxum. They come on slow and work into the set speed, that way it is not a sudden lurch when you step on the pedal. JackL |
