Well here we go again. ;D It depends if your going to just flip with it or flip and pitch with it ? If you are going to flip & pitch, you will want a MH rod with a lure weight less than 2 oz. A rod with a 1-1 1/2 oz max lure weight will allow the rod tip work the jig easier. Most people think you have to have a heavy action stiff flipping stick and in my opinion that is wrong. A stiff rod makes you extend your arms to work the jig to hit the target and it puts you out of position to set the hook because your arms are extended from your body. A stiffer action rod isn't any better to bring the fish to the boat because the lower part of the rod blank does that work for you, not the rod tip. Upon Spinnerbaits posting about Falcon rods. I think the Falcon LFC-5-276T Flipping stick is one of the best flipping sticks for pitching & flipping. Of course there will be many to disagree with me , its only my opinion from past experience. ;D Ivan

I would have to agree with Castaway on the 7' to 7'6" medium heavy rod. I use the 7' MH Kistler Helium (HE70MHC)rod with a Shimano Castiac reel. If you go with a heavy rod I feel that you have more problems getting a good hook as you tend to tear the jig or worm right out of the fishes mouth. Do not get me wrong heavy rods have there place but we are talking extreme heavy cover. Most all of the people that I have fished with in tournies use the mh power as you are able to use the rod for other applications. Good luck with your decision.

The other reason to fish a MH tip is when the bite is soft the rod tip will be soft enough to feel the fish on your lure before the fish feels alot of resistance before letting go so it gives a chance to catch a few more fish that you might not with using a stiffer rod. P N J
