Default the lesson i learned today is not to use cheap

cheap hooks (i did not say hookers) i was fishing a canal the leads to west lake
(known for its sums of large bass) i was fishing a tiki stick baby bass pearl swirl with a 2/0 widegap eagle claw (25 pack for 3$) after dropping it down i felt a strike set the hook lifted this puppy up (bent my rod down to about the 2nd or 3rd eye from the reel and just like that POP came off that was my last baby bass tiki stick so i tied on a gold dust tiki sick (mike n ike without the color) wacky wormed it and moved off about 20 feet down fished for around 5 more minutes and another GIANT bass i started feeling the line it was cutting thru the water so i thought for sure i was snagged on a rock but i still set the hook and that thing wagged its big all head and dove down and i think you know where this is goin

ALWAYS USE GAMAKATSU ALWAYS

what? the hook bent? or did the bass throw it? eagle claws are a very good hook. i have never had a problem with them.

I used to use Eagle Claw because they were the cheapest. I now use Gamakatsu. They are a lot sharper and I think they're worth the extra money. A lesson I've learned is to never use rusted hooks. Even if they're just a little rusted. I thought it would do and I got hung and it broke. I now spray my hooks with wd-40 after fishing in a rain.

I know what you're saying. I fished tha canal in a tournament two weeks ago. Thanks to no trailer hook, I lost a 2#, a 3#, and a 6#. :P I got those three bites in about 1/2hr.

I used to use the cheap fishing line and either couldn't get a hook in 'em or broke off several fish of a lifetime.I now fish nothing but Berkley line products.

Sometimes spending the extra bucks can make a bad day good.
