I'm just curious, because although I try and use a variety of different lures (buzzbait, crankbait, soft plastics, and topwater) I catch over 90% of my fish on either:
1. A soft-jerkbait 2. A plastic worm In fact, all but one fish this year for me has been on a bearpaw soft jerkbait... the other fish was on a plastic worm. And hey, if it works, keep using it! I'm just curious if anyone else encounters the same kind of thing. |

Yeah Lone I do to. In fact I catch all my fish on soft jerkbaits and worms to. Everynow-and-then I catch one or two on a buzzbait or spinnerbait. But pretty much all of my fish come off of plastics.

It's that time of the year-most of mine come on soft plastics, too. Spring and fall is crankbait/spinnerbait time and winter is jigging spoon and jig-n-pig time.

Same here. I've pretty much got spinnerbaits down. Now I need to work on jigs, cranks and c-rigs and I think I'll qualify as a well-rounded fisherman. |

Nope, I catch them on all kinds of baits. BECAUSE I USE ALL KINDS OF BAITS. I learned that just about every bait out there will catch bass. Some are just better than others, and it's always conditions/timing/placement/presentation that make the different baits better choices at different times

I can catch em on worms, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, rapala floaters and jointed, jigs, and poppers, but i cant use a crank or c-rig to save my life.

Lizardsrule is right on track. Different baits for different times, places, depths etc..
Fished a tournament yest. and caught fish from different areas on different types and styles of baits. |

I agree with Lizards too. My fish come on a variety of baits because I use a variety. Worms, Senkos, tubes, soft jerkbaits, Jitterbug, Grass Frog, spinnerbaits and assorted crankbaits. I don't claim any particular expertise with these lures, but over the course of a season, if you use 'em, you'll catch fish on 'em.

i too use a variety...but when the fish just arnt hittin anything i always find myself going to the tiki dipstik....and thats what i get hits on.....so thats what most my fish come in on. but i have dedicated myself to certain lures and have gotten them. all i need to do now is catch more on a pop r, and crank, hard jerkbait, and a buzzbait and i think i could call myself a versitile fisherman. 8)

I agree with Lizard also. Baits are tools. That's it. Don't have favorites. There are many days that your "favorite" bait just doesn't produce and someone else will kick your butt because he fished the conditions, not the bait. Be versatile, watch the conditions and catch em up.

since I dont fish competitvely I have gone to just using plastic worms and Wooden plugs a have a few topwater Â*a few different types of rapalas and quite a few crank baits(I found a lot of sources on the internet where you can get wooden baits that work great for under 10 bucks) and thats what I use. Most of the fish I get come on the platic worms and various colored #7 rapalas. In the evening after the sun goes down I prefer the #7 Jointed rapala.

Sounds like to me you have too much confidence in one or 2 baits which i find bad... you should find a little more confidence in dif baits
