Kevin, Do you think it would be nice to get some more topics on this board? Ones like, Photo Gallery, Tournament talk, Fishing tackle, Rods reels and line, All baits, and stuff like that. It would be nice to see some new things around here.

Great idea but i would like more then the same old 5 topics. There are alot more things to talk about and we all have to crame it into 5 catagories.

We really don't need more categories - when you divide the topics up it makes it a little more difficult to keep track of what posts you've read and where they are. Dave who I think tried very hard on his site made a mistake in that he had something like 20 boards for the sake of having that many, but each one had 1 or 2 posts and there wasn't that community type feel.

Consider the fact that we have 2 seperate boards for fishing discussion : messages and tips and tricks. But its unclear if there is a difference at all between what is commonly posted on either board, I think most just look at them as being interchangable.

There was at one point a tourney talk board - it had about 15 posts in 2 years and I lobbied with others to have it changed to the non-fishing discussion. Just click on it and look at the address up top and that board still says tourney.

If you want to talk to Kevin, go to chat tomorow night. And tell him what I said too, although he will likely read this thread. To divide up topics in different boards like you are suggesting will cut the total use of the boards because it will make accessing each board less efficient than having to go to just 1 or 2 all purpose boards. If there is a thing that should be done, it is the consolodation of "tips, n tricks" and "message boards".

I'm with WTL. We don't need more forums. People can post on any topic they want on one of the existing forums. The existing forums are not so busy as to make them unmanageable; if they were, then I would favor splitting them into additional forums.

I agree with WTL. I have seen a lot of sites that have gone under because they have 20+ boards. By having only a few it simplifies getting around the site and makes more anglers wan to stay here and chat. I don't think anyone would ant to keep up with twenty boards at once and each one gets posted on once every day or week... or more.

i say keep it how it is, keeps things localized, easier to keep up with as i don't have the time to check 50 different sub groups. As far as him not on here much, i can perfectly understand, i don't even do things with my own site as much as i'd like to.

IMO,,,you should not be able to post unless your profile is filled out.don't know how you other guys feel but i don't respond to posts by guests and anyone that doesn't have info in their profile or people i know are using 2+ names,or the guys that keep changing their names.....but that's just me.
i think kevin should ban anyone that has more that one user name on their IP address.
and leave everything else alone,this is the best board going.

I totally agree. I think that when someones IP address is filled out, they should not be able to add another name, and It should be filled out completely before anyone is able to post on this site. No posting by non-members. I have said that for a long time. It would cut down on a lot of the CRAPOLA!

I am not under the illusion that Kevin has made this site just for my enjoyment - the way he runs it he tries to make a little money off the adds and banners. Thats great as far as I'm concerned, he did the work so he's entitled to use it as he pleases. Registering IP addresses or any of that stuff that does make sense to us in regards to improving the quality of posters does not nessesarily benifit Kevin in that it may affect the quantity of posters. He wants a lot of hits, more power to him. I do wish there was a seperate veterans-only board, but last time I suggested that I was shot down cause the idea was insensitive to the newbies.

WTL,I agree with the veterans board. NJ I agree with everyone working to get there. The problem is look how many insignificant replies or posts are put on here just to improve the status. Look back on how many people ask "When do I get the next step up?" In the meantime they post stuff like ;D : :-[ and this adds to their numbers. Then the other side is, How about a veterans only page that is invite only by Kevin or by a select group of longtime users? Then again will this alienate the newbies?
