cool experience
I recently found out that the pond about three houses down from my house is loaded with BIG cats. So I had about 45 min to kill today before dinner so I went down to the pond, armed with a MH rod, braid, and bologna. At the pond there is a cement box sticking 4ft out of the water and it was about ten feet into the pond. So using a plank of wood I got on top. I could see about 3ft down into the water and saw about an 8lb catfish swim right up next to the box. So I SLOWLY dipped the bologna into the water, and as the cat swam away brim came up and started hitting it. Well once the first brim made a lot of commotion the cat turned around and I saw it engulf the bait. This was really neat for two reasons: You almost never actually see a catfish pick up a bait. And it proved that the catfish in the pond feed by listening to what is happening in the water. The brim in the pond are super aggressive and when they start hitting something, the catfish plows its way through them to the food.
