BF02 is right; there is no best anything.
My first soft jerkbaits were Mr. Twister Slimy Slugs (very similar to Slug-Gos) and I was very pleased with them. Then I got into Flukes and Assassins and don't use the Slugs too much anymore. But I don't know why--I can't say that one is better than the other. |

I really don't think one had a best action. All of them basically get their action from being weighted so they sink horizontally and when twitched dart erratically. I use fluke, fluke jrs, original flukes, sluggoes and every senko rippoff ever created almost interchangibly. The only noticable difference at all may be that senkos tend to sink a little faster.

I prefer Slug-go because of the action it provides. I like the way that it sinks more quickly than most soft-jerkbaits, and how it moves quickly when twitched. This is especially good for running below the surface quickly on a windy day when spinnerbaits and such aren't doing the trick.
Also I find them to be quite durable. However, I admit I only have decent success with them after I put some of my homemade scent (garlic, veggie oil, and salt) on. |

The very best and the orignal that started the wacky rigging craze is the Jersey rigg bait. Jeff Camerino designed it and tournament fished it over 20 ears ago. It is still being made today. Those of you who like light line ,skipping docks, fishing over weedbeds should seek information on this very versitile bait. P N J

Marty, The sluggo has a cult like following around my area clubs.Everyone uses a 4.5" bubblegum or white sluggos. My freind and I coined the baits as " giving them the finger " and it seemed to have stuck around the local clubs. P N J

Zoom super flukes are the best no matter where you fish. They are durable and not too pricey and come in a wide range of colors. They have great action.

Super flukes are not durable they fall apart after a fish or so.

They are pretty durable for me. Also I like to use fishing glue with them to keep them on the hook and stop them from slipping down the shank. I have caught 7 bass before on a single fluke.

I like the orignal Slug-go's. Maybe it's just me, but the Slug-go has out produced every other soft plastic jerkbait I've ever used. Fluke's, Senko's, Bass Assassin's. You name it, I fished it and did better with the Slug-go. As far as duribility goes, I've been on 3 different (successful) fishing trips using the same Slug-go, and it doesn't look any worse then when I pushed the hook through it the first time. I haven't bought a bag of Slug-go's in 3 years and I still have 6 in that bag.

Interesting. Those are two colors I don't use for some reason. I wonder what caused the cult-like following. |

I prefer the FIN-S Fish, as my fluke, but I know creekgeek loves the YUM Houdini Shad. I've used knockoffs, and Zoom, Strike King, and probably 6 or 7 other brands. The FIN-S holds up, has a great action, and I prefer it in Alewife color. Slug-go is what I started with, and they are still in my tackle bag/boat ;D
