PHANTOM,
Speaking from experience, I would suggest one of the 17 ft aluminum rigs that is put out by Tracker, Lowe, G-3, etc. They don't cost all that much money used, they are fairly plentiful, can be pulled by smaller vehicles and will take a lot of punishment. The downside is that you can not fish the larger lakes when the wind is blowing, as you will take waves over the sides. For small lakes on good days, they are excellent. JackL |

I agree with Jack 100% here, except that even on large lakes, there are usually sheltered places where you can fish all day and not be too worried about rough water. You might have to change your launch site but that's safer than running water too rough for the boat.
I run a Carolina Skiff 16 foot boat, with a 20 hp, and that's what I do when I want to fish a big body of water. (Less that 5,000 new) Just use some common sense, and good judgement. |

![]() I wont quite agree with that... ...trust me, if it's not a stable one, it's not a fishing boat. I hate it, when I have to balance on the boat, just to cast. : ![]() seaphantom |

I currently have 14 ft. aluminum with 5 hp motor and rear transom mount w/ foot pedal and 28lbs of thrust. I too am in the market for something I can fish local club tournies with. I've got my eyes on two boats. Tracker's pro 175 ($8,995) and Nitro's 640 LX ($9,995).
Tracker website has advertised Zero Down $99/month for the first year right now. |

Not sure where your from but I have a GREAT and MINT first bass boat for sale. It's a 89 BassTracker 1600TF with a 90 Evinrude. SS Trophy prop,New trolling motor, dual live wells, 3 new batteries, 3 depth/fish finders, all the bells and whistles! The boat is great in rough water. Very stable to fish from. Lots of room for your goodies. I'm the second owner and the boat has been in a heated garage ever since it was made!! I'm asking $6000. I would recomend this boat to anyone for a first time or a great rig with everything you want on a boat.

You can into a pretty good used boat for 5-6 grand. Maybe a Cajun, Javelin, Hydra-sport, Skeeter. I'd say a Ranger would be good, but it'd have to have a few more years on it to be in that range.
