on my 1987 chalenger bass boat where the motor mounts through the transom it had started cracking through and taking in water. Anyone know how I can repair this? or a web-site that deals with this problem. Thanks and GOD Bless

BONEMAN,
I think you have a very serious problem. A 1987 Challenger probably has a wooden transom with glass over the top of it. If the glass is cracked to the point that water is leaking in, there is a very good chance that it has been leaking into the wood inside the transom and has rotted it out. You may have to take it to a fiberglass repair firm and have the rotted wood removed and chopped glass blown in to replace the wood. This would give you a stronger transom than when it was new, and it will never rot out again. You are probably looking at a $500 to $750 repair. JackL |

ZOOKER,
The metal plate was overkill. If done right, the solid fiberglass transom will be as strong as the ones on the new boats. JackL |
