CANYON LAKE: Water gin clear; 86 degrees; 909':
Largemouth are fair to good in 14'-20' of water along open water ledges and points using white or shad colored Fat Free Shad crankbaits that will get down to 10'+, Albino Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) jerkbaits on Carolina rigs and 4" pumpkin Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on jigheads. Upriver, motion lures like Silver Shad 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits or buzzbaits, topwaters and shallow running crankbaits produce for the first hour of day- light. After the sun is up, a slow presentation with soft plastics such as wacky rigged soft stick baits like Whacky Sticks rigged on "K" Whacky Hooks (www.falconlures.com) and 6" red shad power worms produce along shaded channel breaklines. Smallmouth are fair over rock piles along bluff ledges in 15'-30' feet on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues, on split shot rigs, Smoke Red flake Snap Back tubes and wtrmelon/chart Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com), both on jigheads. Stripers are slow downrigging Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) or drifting live shad through suspending schools in 40 feet over 60'-80' of water near the dam. White Bass are slow to fair at night under green lights on 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs, Spoiler Shads and 1-12" Lit'l Fishies. Crappie are fair upriver in 10'-14' tight to brush and standing timber.
