ok not a boat.
but if ya had a choice of 2 classic cars pre 1971 what would they be? and why? mine would be a 1958 buick roadmaster deluxe it had the highest fins -for buick- and a ton of chrome plus it was the first year of the ohv in buick. this is about the prettiest car ever made to me. and a 1969 dodge charger with a 440 stroker super charged -of course- and a 727 hurst rock crusher 6 speed stick 3:9 rear end. and it had better be grass green with out the ugly assed steel rims. the finest muscle ride ever to come from detriot can ya tell bass fishing anit my only hobby? yup i am one of those too zooker

68 Camaro or 63 Stingray. The only other classic I really would like is a 50's model Chevy P/U. Split 3 window rear w/ 3 on the tree. 8)

A 1970 challenger with the 426 Hemi, yellow & black paint.I had one that was missing the hemi, a 383 was in place of the original motor. The second vehicle would be a 1970 ford pickup with the old straight six 300 motor in it.It has to have the old high stick shift ,it wasn't real pretty but it was my favorite truck, the motor ran like a swiss watch. ;D P N J

A 327 is more of a racing engine than a 350.
The 70 model could be adjusted to a 396. The only problem with the 396 is the heads. The 396 heads need to be re-adjusted more often than on a regular engine. It's the transmission that makes the difference. 350 vs 400 turbo. The 400 has more tork than the 350. Also, the 350 transmission is not as strong as the 400. Have seen both, the 350 didn't last while the 400 stayed strong. Man , that 400 turbo would "burn" the tires off. |

keep me in mind if ya still want a 'stang there is a ton of them around. might even know where a pantrea is think mach 1 on crank.
also model t's were and still are a hand clutch and ya shifted with your feet-and hands-makes driving a standard H shifter look easy. trust me i have driven one it is NOT as easy as i make it sound. zooker

I think I will be out of college in maybe a little over a year, so I will keep you in mind. As I see it, that gives me a little over a year to come up with some reason to financially justify buying a classic car instead of doing something responsible....

My ride would have to be a stock 1951 Merc. I had one about 15 years ago and let it go for a boat. Dumb move. What's even worse, I don't have the boat anymore either. Oh well, such is life.

Pig-n-Jig,
The problem with the 396 was well the starter, and the heads. Granted, we messed with these engines alot. Maybe that had something to do with it. When you go hopping up engines with out alot of experience, bad things can happen. One thing though, you learn by doing. |

small block chevys were the best.so interchangable with 6 cyls.too bad GM ditched that block design.easy to work on.pop the hood on a 67 impala w/283..you could walk around in there.

"ZOOKER" First of, what the f*** is a 727 hurst rockcrusher 6 spd stick? Sounds to me you did'nt ever own a mopar and have looked at to many magazines.
My first hot rod was a 1969 ss396 4spd nova and my most succesful car was a 1969 440 auto dodge super bee that i street raced for 2 years. The nova was more fun to drive, but nobody wanted to race it because it was loud and looked like it was fired out of a cannon. The dodge was alot faster, but it looked real ratty. It had alot of rust, but in 2 weekends I had won more money with it than I paid for it. |
