Default New to Forum, New to Bass Fishing

Went bass fishing for the first time this past Monday at Lake Barkley in Kentucky with some friends from church. The three of us caught about 20 fish, no monsters with my biggest being about 3 pounds. I have catfished all my life, but I now I am completely hooked (pun intended) on bass fishing. There are very few things on this earth that are as great as having a largemouth bass suck in that worm a run with your line, and then having to pull him out of buckbrush and grass. I am now hooked for life!

Welcome to the Bassahloics site. Glad you joined. Grab the bait monkey to the left, and watch your step, it gets deep in here sometimes.
Since your new to bass fishing, i will suggest you go to this site http://www.bassresource.com go to the beginner section, and start reading, tons of great info there. Once you've done that and have questions about something specific, come on back and ask away. Also the Articles section at the front of this site is also great reading info.

you might also want to clean out the celler/garge/spare bed room, so you will have room to put all of the bass tackle you will buy -trust me - you will need this room.

Thanks for the welcome. I had completely skipped over the articles and went for the tips and techniques. Guess that shows the inexperience. I read through several a few minutes ago and learned quite abit. Thanks for the advice.

bro Brian, welcome, you think your hooked now? just wait. I started this for fun about 35 yrs ago, Since then its been nothing but baitmonkey style shopping, tournaments away from my family, locals, pro ams then pro. New rods every year, new boat, and a dire passion to go at any given chance. I am learning that pro fishing is a lot of work especially if you have a full time job like i do. But i love every aspect of bass fishing (wife thinks i need therapy ) She is gonna start a club for widows of fisherman. Because we arent home much and we spend all our money on equipment and tourney entry fees. If you need anything dont hesitate to ask. When i'm not tourney fishing, i am pre fishing for a tourney or doing a local benefit for the dept of fish and game take kids fishing day or at a fishing show somewhere. good luck the passion will increase the money will decrease but but its all worth it. I didn't see that anybody else had advised you to start hunting for a second job NOW. You will need it to feed the bait monkey. He is a hungry little devil.

As the rest of the people I would like to welcome you to the site. You might want to get a note pad and write all the good tips down as there will be too many to remember. Watch out for the bull crap it gets slung around quite well. We will have to call you the Kentucky head hunter, I thought of a good KFC joke but don't know you that well yet.........
