Then live without it.
Give Caesar what is Caesars, give to God what is God's. I give God praise - but I still have not renounced my wallet. If you think that Jesus wants you to renounce currency, by all means do it. But do it completly without half-measures. |

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
Bull****. And its not a point, but an idea thats out there and already contaminated you. I'm gonna help out a little though.
What is evil in your description of the stereotypical rich man? Is it the cash in his pocket, or his deeds? To hear you talk you would think he is a bad person because he has some change in his pocket - but thats not what is wrong - cash is a neutral - it only represents value in a marketplace and power - its how you use that power that can make it bad. Money is power, ability, value - all that can be used for good or bad. The evil part resides totally in the user and it has nothing to do with their bank balance. The poor and middle class are evil pretty much just as often as the rich, they just don't have as much individual power - but there more of them and they have collective power. Now on to your assertion that most rich people done something wrong - also bull****. 90% of the millionares in America are first generation rich. They got that wealth by working hard and saving their money instead of wasting it on lures they don't need. You don't need to step on a soul to get rich - you just have to work hard save money and recognize good investments. |

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
I dont know much about politics........ But I was talking about some of the deeds that people do to get money. I have nothing against money, just some people that have money............ Like for instance, if I had money I would give to a charity.......... But some people would get into the drug buisness, which is one of the reasons the world is messed up let alone this country............ I know that that we all have different opinions on this and this is just my opinion........ Im not trying to change your mind or nothin' just stating my opinion........... I am young and still have a lot to learn.......

Well at least you stepped up to the plate. Maybe sometimes I'm a little hard on you younger guys, but I want yall to use your brain - there are way too many people out there that accept a bunch of ideas -especially in politics - just cause they've hear them all the time - without ever questioning what was at stake.

I'm also a conservative Republican, but will likely change parties soon. I was introduced to another party in the last election called the Constitution Party whosem seems to reflect my views. I've grown weary of the Republican party campaigning as conservatives but governing as liberals.

The good thing is we can all do our part to make our country a better place to live. Vote for candidates who will honor God, live a consistent life for God, and "be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Rom 12:2)
I don't mean to sound like a preacher, or point fingers at anyone (because I'd have to point at myself too) but we just need to do what is right, not popular. If someone asks you to have a beer with them... just turn them down and tell them why. |

ARCHER,
BEER is bad? WHY is it any worse than wine. It all contains alcohol, which is the evil chemical, yet Jesus turned the water into wine. Does this mean he condoned drinking of alcohol? Explain this to me preacher, you opened the Bible??? JackL |

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
About kids learning english-- In my class, everyone to be exact, there was a spanish girl. Couldnt speak an ounce of english. she failed everyclass, her average was probably around a 35 or so for every semester. When we took the final exams she was the last one done and it pissed the rest of the class off. When everyone was on question 15 or so, she was still on #1. So matt and dyas were right about their crappy scores.

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
Jesus did not say that money or having it is evil, but the desire for it as well as greed and lust are the bad things. Just because you've got money does not mean that you are "evil" its your attitude and how you spend your money that counts. If you are a miser and horde all money and valuable posessions to yourself, then yes, that could be deemed "evil." However if you are rich, and donate money and spend your money not only on yourself, but largely to help others, then there is nothing wrong with being wealthy.

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
It makes me sad to think about it. I took an oath that I would protect the constitution and the government of the USA. I don't regret being in the service, and in fact i LOVE it, but i don't know what i'm supposed to defend anymore. almost all the things that are worth protecting have been taken away. I fear that the US is no longer a world power. sure, we have the most powerful military, but our economy relies on China right now. if china decides to go into taiwan, and the US lives up to her post WW2 treaties, then China will stop all trade with the US, this would CRUSH the US into submission. Labor Unions have destroyed the economy here, forcing jobs overseas to where the manufacturers can get better deals paying $1/hr instead of 20...
Americans today aren't Americans. REAL Americans aren't afraid of doing hard work for less as long as it helps America. I have had 2 full time jobs since i was 12. Both 9-5. I lied about my age to get the jobs because my family needed help with money. So-called Americans today make me sick. REAL Americans wouldn't pay dues to unions who CONSTANTLY do wrong to the union members. When it comes down to it, ask yourself... would you rather have money or freedom? think that over, and then decide. Real Americans are the ones who were 14 and lied to get into the military during WW2 to fight AND DIE for things that are GONE ALREADY. Real Americans are the ones who worked for 40 years in coal mines jut to get a loaf of bread on their table at home. There are no REAL Americans anymore. America is dead, and has been for some time. But i will still fight because there is always a chance that she can be revived. And if you ask me, WELFARE RUINED THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA. Why should people work if welfare will pay them to have more kids that won't go to school? America was built on people who worked to survive, since the very first people who struggled in New England up until the end of the 1950's. Then the birth of liberalism as we know it in the 1960's slowly began eating away at our freedoms. and now, becuase of them and what they started, this "DIVIDED Union" known as the USA has been destroyed. It is suicide, plain and simple. This country is comitting suicide. I'm just sad that i'll be around in 50 years (God Willing) to see the absolute end of what was once the single Greatest, and most free country on earth. Support the Troops, we need support. the media is against us for-the-most-part, and that does a number on morale.

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
Thanks for your post Rob Mak and especially thanks for your service to the country or at least its' former ideals. I agree with most of what you said, I'll add a little bit though because this thread has become my pet thread for the past few days....
China won't dare touch Taiwan cause they know that would mean the end of trade between the US and China, and although we would be wounded by that China would be killed - we would literally kill them if we denied them a market. Their whole emergence on the world stage is thanks to the American market. Labor Unions are bad - but don't forget the effects of minimum wage. The more per person that a company has to spend on labor, the less people it can hire to perform those jobs. The decision is not between money and freedom - its between freedom and security. People are willing to trade their finacial (and personal) freedom in exchange for the certainty of the projects. Theyd rather be slaves than freemen. They are beaten down to the point where they think there is no other alternative. The word liberalism was stolen - to be a liberal used to mean to be free - it was almost synonym. It meant the government giving the people the choice, letting the ability of their hands determine their fate. The modern liberals stole the word and what was once a positive association with the word just like many communist states preceded their official names with "The Peoples" or "Democratic". It was effective propaganda in that it both projected an ideal upon themselves that they did not deserve and it stole the idea and the issues from those who deserved the names liberal, democratic or those who fought in the name of "The People". Another thing. Modern liberalism - or left-wing politics first became the dominant politicial force in America not in the 50s or 60s, but in the 30s. All those who idolize FDR idolize a character - a fraud in many respects. People will continue to eschew FDR's real legacy for a while longer, but face it - Social Security isn't going away and it is putting the country in the grave. |

Re: Welcome to socialism folks!
Reb-well said. Things like this will continue to happen as the american people become more concerned with personal gain, and less with the overall direction of our country. I remember a speech from Mr. Heston, (President NRA) that moved me so much that I immediately joined the NRA. It went something like this, "When the government comes to your door, and takes your guns, what will you do? When all forest, prairies, and open lands are now subdivided, and bulldozed, what will you do? When all your trout waters, lakes and streams are no longer accesible to you, what will you do?
You will ask, "How did this happen?" "Where was the NRA?" And the NRA will reply, "Where were you?" |
