Default Trolling motor question

Need some advice. Â*Today towards the end of the day my TM just died. Â*No power at all. Â*Mentioned it to a couple of folks and they said check the fuse. Â*Sure enough, that is it. Â*I'd like to install a circuit breaker in place of the inline fuse. Â*My question is do I need to keep the fuse if I install a circuit breaker? Â*I've heard differing opinions and don't want to mess up my TM.

if it's a 12V system i'd use a 40 amp breaker..if it's 24V i use 50 amp breaker.if it's 36V..i don't know,never had one.no you do not need the fuse when you have a breaker.also don't get the kind you have to push a button to reset.i have the type that automatically reset.
they usually kick off when you run a long distance on high speed.i was having a problem with my 24V TM kept tripping the 40 amp breaker.i don't have a 50 amp breaker yet,so i put 2 40 amp breakers in a series.they don't trip as often ;D i wonder why?
also,i have my breakers right at the + post on the battery that supplies the trolling motor.
