Re: changing spinner bait blades
Depends on which blade. If it is the blade on the wire arm you will have to unbend it enough to get the clevis over the end of the wire, change the blade, thread it back on the wire and bend the wire back in place. For the blade on the swivel I use a pair of split ring pliers to open the split ring, Work the blade off of the split ring, put the new blade on the split ring the same way you took it off. All the split ring is is a minature version of a key ring-you change the blade just like putting a key on or off the key ring.

Re: changing spinner bait blades
Nick, that is one I have not attempted. Â*I have removed a blade from the wire bu cutting the clevis completely off to make it a single blade bait, but not changing one like you are referring to.

Re: changing spinner bait blades
yes just take your time and go careful it will come right off no problems. unless it is a titanium wire then it will break like a pretzel.
or do this cut the clevis off and get a quick change clevis -bps or cabaels-then ya can just change to what ever type blade you want. zooker

Re: changing spinner bait blades
I've never changed the blade on the clevis, so I tried some practice on a spinnerbait that I was going to discard just a week or two ago. I had a heck of a time just opening up the wire loop at the end enough for the clevis to slip off; I made quite a mess of the wire in doing so. There was no way I'd have ever gotten the loop closed right and the wire straightened.
I know it can be done; I understand special pliers can help. But I won't be changing that blade unless I follow that advice to cut off the clevis and replace it with a quick-change one. But then, I've always been a klutz and not very adept with tools. |
