when do you know to fish the banks and when to go deep? does it have to do with the season or the weather? thanks for all of your wisdom!

well, i would fish shallow in winter and pre-post spawn. i would do this because 1) the water warms faster and 2) the bass will be bedding and making beds

If we are talking lake purdy again, I looked at a map and I would focus in the shallows this time of year, maybe on the northen end, but as I said in the depth finder thread its better if there is some deep water at least nearby. Its gonna be warming up next week, kinda cool today so they are gonna still be staging, but by monday or tuesday they will be moving back up shallow again.

All depends on conditons, time of year, etc.... etc....etc....
Winter they tend to move deeper, cold fronts the same. During the middle of a sunny day, in the summer, if not deeper at least into cover.
