how many fish can you catch on a single worm or other artificial plastic bait before its time to switch em out? or do you just keep fishing it until the thing is starting to fall apart

A bunch. Especially fishing the zoom speedworm body minus the tail. When one end wears out, I texpose the other end....after that goes, it's time to wacky rig. When completely shot, I take them home and repair the tears with a pencil soldering iron.

Re: life expectancy of plastic bait??
If your like me, mine usually don't have time to wear out. They get snagged up and off to the lake gods. I use them until they fly off the rod when casting and then grab another. Good Luck on the lake, here it's been rather scarce lately.

Re: life expectancy of plastic bait??
I keep using the same one until the rip where the hook goes through gets about 1/4 th inch, then I bite that off and start over, unless the tail has been biten off..
I have fished with guys that put on a new plastic all the time but I dont think its necessary..I esp. like to keep the same plastic on that has caught a fish but rarely keep the same thing on any rod from day to day..I figure why get in a rut with the same thing? |

I keep using them until they're unusable. Like JB, I'll cut off the top where it's torn until I can't cut anymore.

Re: life expectancy of plastic bait??
I use them as long as they work properly. But it depends on what kind of lure you are using for how long it will last.

Re: life expectancy of plastic bait??
Usually use them until they fall apart. Then I take the swirl or paddle tail and use it on a jig or spinnerbait as a teaser. 8)
