Default New to Site, Some scent hints

Hi All,
Found this site this morning and after checking out some of the posts, just had to join. You folks are great, love the info.
I made up this scent last summer and it works pretty well, it is also cheap.
I go to the dollar store and buy a bottle of olive oil, garlic salt, and petroleum jelly. Melt the jelly in a pot of hot water, (becareful, it may catch fire) I do mine on grill outside. Once the jelly is melted add garlic salt and oil stir this up and take off heat. Once mixture is hard, I put the mess eh creation into a travel soap holder, plastic from the dollar store. When fishing I use a small foam brush to apply the mixture to the lure. My son puts the lure into the dish, presses the lid down and the lure is covered.
I know this sounds strange but I got the idea from the Bass Professor, Doug Hannon. Besides! It is 20 degrees outside, with a foot of snow. I need to do something to get rid of the cabin Fever : :'(

Welcome to the site. You're not alone, we also have a foot of snow on the ground and are in an extended cold wave.

Where are you located? Why not put your location in your signature like many of us do? Gives people a better perspective on the posts.

Welcome to the forum!

I'd seen similar recipes but not with garlic salt. Great idea! Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the site!

I also make my own scent. I use vegetable oil, chopped garlic, and a hint of salt. Then let it sit in the sun.

I've never considered putting petroleum jelly in before. It sounds to me like you have more of a paste, and I have a spray. I can imagine them both working though.

We also have snow here... highs of 27-28. Colder than usual temperatures for March.

Welcome to the Official Bassaholic Anonymous Club Great idea for the scent. I have entirely too little time to fish as it is, so I doubt I'll be using your formula in the near future :-[ It seems I spend enough time just keeping the boat up, and the fishing tackle. Again welcome, and enjoy. Hope you stay around awhile, and join in the fun ;D

It sounds very much like Smelly Jelly. It makes an egg salad sandwich taste really different.

Bassfisher02, no I wasn't bombed, it just so happened that I didn't get all of the Smelly Jelly off of my finger. I didn't know it until it was too late. It was bad :-X
