I went to a new pond yesterday, and the bass were going nuts every thirty seconds there was a bass coming all the way out of the water I tryed just about every thing I had, crank bait, tube jigs, jointed floating rapala, and evan a fly and a bubble, I got a couple blue gill on the fly, but no bass, any suggestions would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

i know you're out west and all but I'd try the fail safe red shad worm carolina rigged or a fluke.

Re: jumpin bass
Did you try a topwater like a Pop-R or a Tiny Torpedo? If they are hitting something on top I reach for a topwater plug or a buzzbait.
However, if that doesn't work I throw a lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap, throw it past where they are breaking and crank it in as fast as I can. If they are schooling chashing shad you can load the boat in a hurry with one of those. |

Re: jumpin bass
also maybe a rat-l-trap. and red shad worms like bass_whoopin said. i would rig it t-rigged with a bullet weight, not to big tho. cast it out to where you saw it jump. more then likely they are feeding on shad. also, depending on your water temp, something like a buzzbait or popper would work. and dont forget the spinnerbait.

Re: jumpin bass
a zara spook or zara puppy are great topwater baits also. i was fishing in a little pond the other day and was noticing the same thing was happening. then i noticed that everytime the bass ran off like that a turtle popped up close by.

Re: jumpin bass
Tie on a buzzbait, I just talked to a kat that had 2 on the ol eggbeater...who'd thought?
Thats why I keep in touch with as many people that fish regularly, it sure saves time on the water searching for a pattern when you have clues from realable sources |
