Default Cajun Red VS bleeding red hooks

So Cajun red says the red color of their line is virtually invisible under water but the companies that sell bleeding red hooks say it drives fish crazy. So what gives who is telling the truth?

I have yet to find out, everyone up here says its very visible to the human eye while on the water, and anglers on the forum claims its invisible to fish..about 1/2 like it , the other 1/2 don't..I am going to try it and if it does ok I'll stick with it, kinda a wait and see huh?

Well I know I'm not so hot on the Cajun red (cast included) but wanted to know if the cost of the bleeding red hooks is worth the difference. I guess if it's invisible that is just as good as it looking like a blood line. My guess is that a fish would smell blood and not see blood, I'm also guessing that fish are color blind and most colors don't matter but rather shades (dark vs light).

I believe bass see 24 dif hues on the color chart, color selection depends on water clarity and weather conditions

The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned, but I am leaning towards it not making any difference.

OK, Cajun red will virtually disappear ar certain depths due to the color spectrum issue, and it's a see through material. Red hooks will never disapear, because it's not a see through item. I was like Reb on a wait and see, and I saw the red hooks made no difference to my fishing at all. And most of the red hooks are very flimsy/cheap. I am now with zooker, it's the biggest marketing ploy since the helicopter lure. If fish were smart enough to realize there was a hook on the line, any color of hook, nobody would ever catch a fish. What do you think they consider trebles on cranks? What do you think they consider a flash from a blade on a spinnerbait. Fish see in shades period, just like pink is more of a light grey to them. If you are worried about the fish seeing your line use flourocarbon line, it's been around for quite awhile. I still don't believe line visibility has any affect at all. I could be wrong, but I doubt it from my experience. If you feel better about using red hooks, and red line then do it. Confidence is a great thing in bass fishing. If you believe it works, then you will fish it better IMO, thereby catch more fish. If you want try to convince me line visibility makes a difference, or red hooks make a difference I'll just pull a Bassintom. I can't hear you lalalala got my hands over my ears lalala, can't here you lalalala.

Default I agree with Lizard.

Everything right on the mark!

From my experience, not science, red hooks have actually been associated with lower catches of fish. I bought the crap outta gammies in 4/0 5/0 red and didn't catch nearly the fish on them that i did with the regulars.

Where's my Banjo Minnow?

Well, I think it's like this, the color red in shallow water is obvious to some degree, especially on metal hooks, but as line goes, it's harder to see due to the composition/transparencey of the line, even though its red instead of clear or green or smoke or whatever. In general, I don't belive it makes that big of difference, I have fished with it recently too, in shallow water even and it didn't seem to have any added or negative efects on the bite.
My fishing partner, uses red cajun now and she is usually the first of us to catch a fish, is it due to the red cajun, I don't know ??? But it works for her, and she likes it. With that said, it will not replace Pline or Silver thread as my favorites.
I still like shakespear too, whatever you use, it's good just to be fishin.

cajun red cast is a great mono.i think it's the best mono made.having used it all last year i don't think line visibility means a damn thing.so i am going back to power pro for everything.i think feeling more bites and no stretch are the most important factors with line.on top of that nothing cuts through grass like braid.if you use mono give cajun red ast a shot.but like the guys said,i don't buy into the red line thing.i don't think it made a difference either way.btw,i've trashed all my red hooks.

just bought some cajun red... lot of you like powerpro, but i dont know, im broke and so id have to beg my dad if i wanted powerpro. i guess ill wait for my report card... anyways, the cajun looks cool... says its made by shakespear. i tried some, its tough stuff. i tied it to a pole on the stairs, set my cardinals drag on tightest and reeled (10 lb test btw). stretched a bit and snapped after a bit of time, but it was much better than 6 lb rapala finesse which i tried before...
