Default Fishing Shows

What are your favorites and which ones drive you up the wall? I really like the Linders Angling Edge and the new Bass Pro series featuring a different pro each episode. Hank Parker is pretty good too and Jimmy Houston is entertaining.

Now for the dislikes, the number 1 offender has to be Roland Martin. He must script the show based on how many endorsements he can fit in. Have you ever seen anyone use so much sunscreen in your life? Too bad to because I use to enjoy his shows before the infomercials started. Number 2 has to be Bill Dance only because of where he fishes.

I realize it is a business and they have to get their sponsors name out to the public. But I also think you should gain knowledge by watching them.

The only one I make a point to watch is the new one you mentioned. The Bass Pros, it doesn just show someone sitting on a boat catching fish like all the other ones do. They also don't spit out advertisements for their sponsor every 30 seconds. That is why I don't like Bill Dance, or Roland Martin that much. Heck, I think Roland would sponsor poop on a stick if someone offered him money to. And he would say it is the best lure in the world. Remember the Helicoptor lure??

Lol. Here is my list - favorites in descending order...

1.Jimmy Houston
2.Hank Parker
3.Anything with Al Linder.
4.Bill Dance
5.Hunt for big fish.
If I ever watch TV I watch fishing shows. There are many more I like. I've seen only one of the bass pro shows. I don't mind watching him fish, but Roland Martin's shows aren't much fishing, it's just his sponsors.
Let's see his list of what I can remember.
-Boogie Baits
-Spike it.
-MegaStrike
-SUNSCREEN!
-AquaView
-His Lowrance stuff.
-Mercury stuff.
-Yamamoto
-Powerpole thingy.
-Hook remover kit.
-Bass pro catalog

It's kinda funny how it looks when he does something just to bring up one of his sponsors. For example, he said "Ouch I really hooked my finger good there." Then he'll show his hook remover kit and go on and on and on about it.

1. Chew on this

2. Spanish Fly

3. shaw grisby

I do not watch BIll Dance because of the fact that he fishes stocked ponds, and there really is no skill to that.

I like the new BPS show, Hank Parker, A Day on the Lake, and Al Linder.

Don't slam Roland too much for the sunscreen-ever since I had a basal cell carcinoma cut off my shoulder a year or so back I'm a big proponent of using sunscreen. Use the stuff-it sure beats the crap out of the alternative!

I believe in sunscreen and carry it with me in the boat. What I think is a little much is waiting for the cameras to start and then putting it on with the label facing so he can get his plug in. My wife has had cancerous spots removed from her back and it is a serious situation.

I just watched A Day on The Lake this morning, I liked that one. Most of the others I have never seen since I don't watch much tv. We just changed cable companies and got vs. channel so I will have to check out some of those shows.
Cool, you can watch Lunkerville online:

I watch most of the shows that cover bass fishing from time to time. I never (almost) watch them at the time they actually come on. Tivo records them and I watch and fast forward as needed. I wish they would actually tell what the show is covering instead of giving a generic description (on the info) like "series" or "2007" or some other nondescipt info. My Tivo records the same Hank Parker 5 or 6 times or bass pro multple times. I have emailed the stations that have the shows but I never got a reply.

Sorry to get off the orginal subject of the thread. I like a show that teaches me something! I don't like being teased by watching someone fish for 30 minutes. Teach me a new technique or trick or something.

Bass Pro is great, Pro Team journal, Hank Parker, Classic Patterns (wish that was still on) are some that I liked.

I really like the Bass Pro's and Day on the Lake. I think Bass University is worse than Roland Martin. It has to be bad when I won't even record it since all I did was fast forward through it.

In-Fisherman and Lindner's Angling Edge are, by far, the most informative of all the fishing shows I've seen. They actually show you exactly what, when, where, why, and how to catch fish in every situation.

The worst one, to me, is Charlie Ingram's Fishing University. He contradicts himself from one show to the next, and it's also an infomercial for his sponsors. If the lure isn't the featured product that show, you never see it.

I can tolerate all the rest. During winter I watch tons of them.

I'll watch any that is on. I record VS every day and just fast forward through the plugs for sponsers items.

1. Bass Pro. My only gripe about this show is the ammount of Strike King lures they use. I'd rather hear them say "I use this floating Pumpkinseed Fry or some would call it a centipede because it's compact enough not to spook skittish bass, and I want a more natural color because the water is clear and there isn't a cloud in the sky." rather then, "This Strike King Finesse worm is hard to beat."

2. Day on the Lake. Only reason why this show isn't ranked number 1 on my list is because they don't outright teach anything. The pro will talk about why he's fishing where he's fishing, but that's about it. I love the fact they have a cast count and show that in 8 hours, sometimes a pro only catches 4 fish.

3. Bassmasters. Just because they SHOW you the technique the pro's are using. They don't just cut to the pro's catching a fish, they'll show them working an area while talking about what they need to accomplish. That, and since they're in a tournament, they don't have time to plug thier sponcers.

4. FLW (insert bass fishing series name here). Same reason as above, but since I grew up with BASS, I have to rank them higher then the FLW.
