Trolling motor props
I have always used the 2 blade trolling motor props, but I was wondering what are the advantages to using a 4 blade prop? My trolling motor now is way more powerful than I need so I am willing to sacrifise some speed if the 4 blades are a little more quiet or efficient on the battery.

Re: Trolling motor props
The three and four blade (Motor Guides) are supposed to be better at cutting through weeds. Rather they are or not, I don't know. Back years ago, I had a Motor Guide that had a four blade "Ninja" prop. At first I liked it, but before long it started killing my batteries. I switched back to the regular Motor Guide 2 blade and didn't have any more problems.
The two MG's I've got now came with 3 blade props. The first thing I did was take them off and put a two blade on them. I keep the 3's in case I break one or something. |
