Beginner needs a few pointers on bass fishing. . .

I residing for college in Southern Illinois, and recently got into fishing a lot with some friends, doing a lot of hook and bobber and fishing the bottom, and I havent the slightest idea on how to try and catch some decent bass. If anyone can tell me some easy gear to use and how to use it that'd be appreciated.

Tom, that is a wide open subject. Rather than throwing out a bunch of terms that probably won't mean anything to you, here is a great site for someone just getting started:

What college are you going to? There are a number of real good lakes in way south IL around Carbondale.
