went to the pond today
There were bitting too. Started out with senko, watermelon 6in. Had some good hits. Switched to culprit red shad 7in. Caught about 4 or 5. Nothing over 2 lbs. Switched to wild thing tube, watermelon. They hit that like there was no tomorrow. Probably caught about 15. Once again nothing over two pounds. Switched to tiki stick, watermelon. Caught about 10. Once again nothing over 2 pounds. See any pattern here? Switched to rapala slash x-rap, purple-gold. First time I fished one of those. Caught about 8 then the rear treble broke. Nothing over 2 pounds. The pond is about 10 acres. Very clear water. Not sure how deep, maybe 9 or 10 ft. at the deepest. I previously stated on another post that the owner wants every fish released. He also doesn't alow fishing after dark. Most of the fish caught were when the wind was still. Seemed like every time the wind kicked up they stopped biting. When my friend fished there long ago with another owner of the lake he used to fish at night. Said they used to kill the bass on jitterbugs. Most of those night bass were 4 to 7 lbs. So I know there are big fish in there. Best I did there last year was 4 lbs. Despite the small bass they fought hard. I had a blast. Finally got my fix. Wish every lake and pond gave up the fish like this place does. Well bad weather is headed this way so I guess I was lucky it was such a nice day today.
