Anchors, I need advice.
The wind in my area is really starting to get annoying, every time I get in a good spot the wind blows me out within seconds. I have a 15 ft. fiberglass bass boat, the lakes I fish have every type of bottom imaginable, what is the best all around anchor for my set up? I want an anchor with some good holding power.

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
Get a real T/M.
If you gotta have a anchor, a 15 lb mushroom will probably be fine for your use. |

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
I've got an 18 pound(I think) mushroom that works, although I don't use it very much. Only if the wind is REAL bad. Otherwise I use the TM.

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
I jave a 20 lb Navy type anchor for two reasons. #1, I need the weight in Kansas wind. #2 the Navy type anchor takes up less room in the boat and does not roll. JackL |

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
A chene anchor will hold in the wind better than a mushroom anchor, and they are alot lighter in weight.Let me see if I can dig a site up for you. P N J

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
I may need to go that direction-that mushroom anchor takes up a lot of storage space. Having one that folds flat is a good idea.

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
this is the one u wanna go with. those mushroom aanchors will drag in the wind. i would now a lot about these anchors cause i go shrimping alot which involes three anchors all of which are this type cause they dig in the ground. when it sinks start to jerk it ( lol) the rope untill u feel it set in the ground then its good and u will not drag at all.

Thanks for the advice guys, I had some of the same anchors in mind, I just wanted some other opinions before I purchase one. |

Re: Anchors, I need advice.
We actually made some achores for our pontoon they will work on bass boats as well.
Take a metal 4 by 4 appx. 10"-12" long and weld some metal strips 1 inch wide and appx 10"-12"long and place them sideways (not along the 4 by 4) on the bottum. These will appear as an "H" then slightly bend these two strips about 1/4 " up towards the 4 by4. The small pieces will be on the sides and you big piece laterally. Will hold a pontoon boat in place, or you could make one smaller (2 by 2) in the event that you don't need that much anchor. |
