Spinnerbait Retreives
What is the best spinnerbait retrieve for Smallmouth Basas? Slow or Fast? Also, do you start reeling as soon as it hits the water or do you let it sink for while?

yes.
There is no "best"-vary your retrieves and let the fish tell you what they want. |

Re: Spinnerbait Retreives
Reb is correct. I don't fish for smallies often, even though they're widely available around here. However, one piece of advice I've read repeatedly is to burn a chartreuse spinnerbait near the surface. So include that in the things you try. I know I will the next time I'm smallie fishing.

Re: Spinnerbait Retreives
I think chartruse has been proven to provoke strikes in small mouth,
I love to fish a spinnerbait, eps on tree tops. Lots of times I'll either throw the pop r right in the middle of the tree , pick it apart, then go to the spinnerbait, and flip it easy into the tree limbs. Your in the boat so close, a underhanded swing of the bait flips it right where I want it, ya thumb the spool and feather it in the drink..and hOLD ON |
