Trip to Michigan:conclusion
As I said in a prevois post on the old forum, I went to a lake in michigan and hoped to have luck there. Well it was awesome!! I caugt lots of bass as well as some good pike! Suprisingly the bass were HUGE! They werent the longest bass but they were VERY fat and I caught my personal record bass there( around 6 lbs but a I caught another one that would have broken it too). Most of the fish I caught werent under 3lbs no joke! Most of the big fish were aggressivly feeding under weedbeds in the evening. The most prodctive tactic was to slide a tiki stik over the matted weeds, waight for a bass to blow up on it, then let the bait fall through the hole it made and you had her for sure! There were also bass on the droppoffs, Carolina rigs worked very well there. Ill try to get some pics up if I can, but it was a very good trip!
EDIT: I completly forgot about the tournoment!! Ill definatly be in it next time im there( which will hopefully be soon). Last edited by guacomole; 07-20-05 at 06:53 PM. |

Its called whitefish lake, its primarily a leisure boater lake and it might be private, so I dont even know if it has any boat ramps, the whole lake is surrounded by expensive cottages(were kinda the poor fishing obssesed family on the lake ) so it might be private property. My uncle and I were catching loads of pike on spinnerbaits trolled or casted along drop offs, live perch also works well.

I live in michigan and i can tell you right now the best bass action is on lake st. clair everyone says it is a smallmouth lake but they are wrong in the past two weeks i have pulled several largemouth out of the lake with the smallest being three lbs the best fishing is in the evening and early morning around weedbeds and pad fields best techniques include poppers buzzbaits and crawling senko type baits over the pads. You can also run into a few walleye at night on the senkos
