Actually Dyas, 10 guages dont hurt!! I could shoot one all day. My dad has an SP-10, it shoots 3 and 1/2 inch shell, in the magnum loads. I took my second turkey with one![/quote]
ya if u have shock absorbers on it. and besides the older ten gauges do hurt and they have been know to knock shoulders out of place. sp-10 dont hurt because there newer.

Not to belittle any of the younger anglers on here, but, frankly a 10 gauge is probably just too big for a 13 year old to handle without stressing the shoulder too much. Besides, just how often does a given hunting situation really call for a 10?

IM 15, and I would take 10 guage everyday, If I could, and my dad wasnt using it. This gun shoots so nice.

Sometimes when hunting Southern boondals I will take my 1 gauge. It kicks like an Elephant but I love its accuracy at 3 yards, very tight groupings.

oh, and im 10

Crud, your right, its a .05 gauge. The shell weighs a little over 3 lbs.

I bet you can handle a 10 guage, just brace yourself.

Look, I've lost track with who was complainin about a 10 gauge hurting or whatever, and I don't care to reread the posts. All I'm saying is that its not unusual for somebody who is shooting a 10 gauge to have some pain in the shoulder. Especially for younger folks, I know that there are plenty of kids around, that big of a shotgun might make their shoulder sore.

I understand that it hurts some people. It all depends on body frame. If I was alot smaller, it would probably rock me a little bit. IM just saying that it doens hurt me, bu ti may you.

the recoil of the firearm depends on the wieght and action of the gun more than the caliber realy i had a single shot 20 guage that wieghed like 2 lbs its kicked more than my pump 12g cuz the 12 is heavier also the pump kicks harder than my simiauto 12 because the spring action takes most of the recoil so jus cuz its a 10 gauge dont mean it kicks the same as ur 10 gauge and so it goes with all fire arms

im not sayin your wrong powerbass what im sayin is that your gun in new so they made it so you dont feel the shock, but in old 10s its easy to dislocate your shoulder because they arent padded as well as yours.

I understand that, I will be shooting the older one this summer, but for dependability the sp-10 is an amazing firearm.

the only amazing thing about a sp10 is it was first made by ithaca fire arms just like the browning bps also a ithaca design.
sniper is right weight is the only known cure for heavy recoil. learning to "ride" the recoil is alot better than trying to stop it. one of the reason's you will never see a big bore rifle fired off a bench very often. i can truthfully say i only did it once. with a 458 ruger no1-broke a my nose and my thumb- not going to do it again either.

try to beat this bad boy!!

8 inch howitzer... my grampa was 1SG in charge of a battery of the 209th field artillery at fort drum back in the early 60s... them bad boys could hurl an atomic shell 25 miles into a 55 gallon drum. Â*how's that for accuracy and power?? ATOMIC... ain't no critters gonna escape that bad johnny!!! Â*8)

PB, i've also shot a 10 guage on a couple of occasions. Â*it was a monster of a gun... didn't kick near as much as i thought... but then again, it had all the bells and whistles to dampen the force of recoil. Â*nice weapon tho... very nice... very fun

OK kid's

I've shot them all my 10year stint in the army let me tell ya I shot guns from all over the world. from hand guns to asult rifles to shot guns!

and the hardest gun in recoil I have shot was a 3 gauge shot gun, was a short barrel coach gun, and it has a kick that leaves bruises. I could only put 3 shells through it and had to put it down.

As for me i have the ruger mini 30, the 10/22 the AR 15
the 300 win mag SKS chinesse modle, a 303 lee enfield
the 12 gauge .410 .20 gauge and a Ak 47 chinesse version the list goes on but those are ones to come to me first.
