Its really nice chop to the water, overcast, they are hitting the spook and pop r, surely they will hit the faithful jitterbug too..... Wrong At least for tonight it was......... I know of only two techniques in the retreival of this bait, reel slow and continous or stop and go action I kept thinking as I slowly reeled, many this thing is killing me...its just to slow Of course If I had a big bite on it I'd be writing about how I luved it LOL, but tonight I musta been in a hurry, it just putters about ..... So..lets here some woppers about the wopper that was caught on ol jitterbug... anytakers? |

Re: Almost fell Asleep Reelin' the JitterBug
I have no doubts it produces fish, I just think its boring lol
maybe when I get older It will appeal to me, I think I have had that same jitter bug about 20 years, and it still looks brand new. At least my hulapopper looks slightly used, it used to be dads fav to throw..... |

Re: Almost fell Asleep Reelin' the JitterBug
Lost about my first 50 bass on a jitterbug. Then I fina;;y landed one once I learned how to set the hook, first thing I ever caught a bass on. I've had days where you could almost time it, every 20mins I'd get another major hit on it. I have caught several good fish on it, biggest was 5+.

Re: Almost fell Asleep Reelin' the JitterBug
Yeah and just when you are about to snooze, BOOM right up at the boat, wakes me up everytime. I've caught tons of bass on them, and some really nice 4-5lbers. Try ripping it across the water once in a awhile. I prefer smooth water for the Jitterbug, and would rather use a Buzzbait with a little chop. But I've caught fish on both kinds of water with both Jitterbugs, and Buzzbaits. Just wasn't the right time or place for them probably. Fish don't always read what we do. They have this funny notion that they do whatever the heck they wanna do it, whenever they wanna do it. :P

Re: Almost fell Asleep Reelin' the JitterBug
As is evident from the little picture under my name, the Jitterbug is my favorite topwater. But it doesn't seem to wobble quite right when the water is choppy, so I reserve it for calm or ripply water.
That lure has produced my best pike, best smallie and many good largemouth. Just about 10 days ago, I caught a dozen largemouth on one within an hour. My confidence in the lure is sky-high. It has saved me from many a skunking. |

Re: Almost fell Asleep Reelin' the JitterBug
I had some choppy water and slowed it down to get the wobble and the sound etc
lol@boom lizards Some clown that denny and I work that babysits a lazer at work always talks about fishing and hunting, can never get to the end of the story with out telling you have his personnel life, always goes[glow=red,2,300] BOOM[/glow] When he describes the bass hitting. I used to fish with his dad Joe in the bass club in the early 90's ..both can catch fish and know all the basics, never reallya proven winner at weighin tho. Both dad n son were blow hards...always running their yap about money lol |
