The Temp is Rising.
Does the water temp take a long time to rise even though the air temp goes up quickly. It's been in the 70's for almost two weeks, I am just wondering if I have missed the pre-spawn.

Re: The Temp is Rising.
Monday 3/28 water temp at coal pit was 47-48 degrees max
1 week later on Monday 4/4 the water temps were at 62 degrees. I was floored it jumped that much. I personally believe it can and will affect the spawn, more like weeks. When is spawn usually in your area? And when is the full moon? Those are the main points I look at for spawn, water temps and moon. Now this is just my opinion By the way, I took a poll over at another site about what is your favorite time to fish. My choice was spawn, where I think I was the only one who said that. Why is it my favorite time, #1 there are always fish in pre spawn, spawn, and post spawn all at the same time. Talk about any pattern around can work. And if you choose not to fish for females on their beds, you can still target areas where they aren't, and catch a lot of quality fish. Lizards |

Re: The Temp is Rising.
The general answer is that water heats up and cools down much more slowly than air. And the bigger and deeper the body of water, the longer the time it takes for the temperature change.
