Default pitching/flipping rod question

It's probably been asked but I don't remember..Would a medium action rod be too light for this application?I'm looking at one that is rated 3/16 to 5/8 oz..all the medium heavys are 3/8 ti 1 1/2 oz...I know high end companies probably make them, but I am fairly partial to my extreme and bionic blade rods...

i have 2 rods i use for flipping and pitching.one is a 6' pool cue(H).and the other is a 7'6"heavy rod.
IMO,medium or MH are just too light to do the job.

Definately too lite for flippin. If you're pitching to light cover then the MH would be ok. You need the stiffer rod to get control and get em out of the cover. Another thing is the hookset. Most of the flippin baits are compact and bulky. A stiffer rod will help with the hookset.

Yep, too light. Heavy action all the way.

I'm goin to have to open my mouth and ask a stupid question. What kinda cover are you flipping. if it is docks and stumps, medium might be ok if you have to. If its the kinda cover i fish like kissimmie grass, hydrilla, ect. the heavy stuff it depends on what kind of fisherman you are. Myself, I like to use a heavy action with a fast (light) tip so i can get the hook into em. My uncle that lives in Minasota that is sponserd likes to use a mh with mono line and works them out of the heavy stuff. so i would say its all preference. But my opinion is get a mh b/c it would be versital to both heavy and not so heavy cover.

its up to the preferrance of the angler. I use a 7ft Kistler Helium med. He70MC for much of my jig n pig fishing. It's light by most guys standards but it works for me.
