Default Walking the dog

I have been trying to do a walk the dog action with some of my softbaits and lures, but I can't seem to get it. :'( :'( All of the lure packaging says to "give it a slack line twitch. ??? What does this mean? Can someone explain this to me?

Lonestar, it is not too difficult, just takes a little practice. Â*I find it works best with a topwater bait like a Zara Spook. Â*I cast the lure out, then point the rod tip at the water and give it a twitch. Â*The lure will move forward and then turn either right or left. Â*Twitch it again and it will turn the opposite direction. Â*Twitch it again and it turns back the other way, and so on. Â*When I twitch it I turn the reel handle a couple of times and move the rod tip forward to take up the slack and get ready for the next twitch. Â*It just takes a little practice to get the rhythm down, but is is a great way to fish topwaters like a Spook.

This is one of the applications where I prefer a 5-6 pistol grip rod-the shorter rod length makes it easier to control IMO.

Usaually I just let em run, if he wants to walk, then that's ok with me, as long as he does his business outside

Sorry couldn't resist. Reb took care of it as usual ;D

LONESTAR,

There is a oriental recipe book out called "1,000 ways to wok your dog" that should explain it.

Reb explained it pretty well. I just want to add that after each twitch, leave a little slack in the line. It is the slack that allows the lure to make its zigs and zags.
