Top Water Canopy
WEll it sure surprised me today, finding fish under moss and actually hitting anything that came atop of them on the moss.
A pattern I use anytime in the summer , but for some reason thought maybe it was to early in the year for that .. WRONG! they were every where under the moss..and you know how it is,, when they hit it startles the heck out of you, I didnt have any hookups but was using a fire and ice 6 inch culprit and looking for pockets of water that were open to let the worm sink, and using a big o' 1/2 ounce lead head for moss penetration, it was thick! It was blue bird skies today and the pattern was simple, they just lookin for shade 8) |

Re: Top Water Canopy
That's the kind of fishing I love. However I fish the plastics weightless(preferably a Lizard) and hop it on the mats, and wait for them to come and get it right through the moss. HOP HOP stop, and wait , then HOP HOP and stop. They always go for it on the stop. If I get it to a hole or the edge, then I just let it fall, and wait for the hit.

Re: Top Water Canopy
I had the frog ready but it was windy out and we kept drifting in circles.
I had the worm going hoping for pockets but sometimes there was more under the surface and made it hard for the bass to see the bait. If I had more time I probably would have tried my luck on the frog, instead we turned to the windy side of the moss canopy and threw the buzz bait. I had a clacker on mine which was wrong, the water was super clear, but it was the only one I had that hasn't fallen apart this spring, I need to restock. |
