Default Vertical Presentation

Some of the fellows on another board are having good luck fishing various baits with a simple vertical presentation.
Â* Â* Â*They are taking one rod, with for example, a sluggo...rigged weightless on a circle hook....letting it drop to the bottom, then reeling up one foot. Â*They are simply letting it hang there, moved by the wave action on the boat, while fishing a second rod. They are using the circle hooks to avoid gut hooking the fish.
Â* Â* It's a good idea to lock the rod in a pole holder while doing this, or have your foot on the handle so nothing can carry it off suddenly. Â*Sluggo's and Super Flukes are preferred for doing this, but a zoom speedworm fished weightless minus the tail works well for this also. Â*They have reported catching some nice fish doing this. Â*If you want to read the posts, they are on www.bronzeback.com message board.

You could also get it about a foot off bottom and attach a bobber to achieve the wave action movement as well.
