Default bottom cover

Waht cover do various water-plants cling to? Â*Like do lilies typically grow on hard or soft bootoms, and so on and so forth. Â*Anything you know would help.

That's a darn good question, Hula-never really thought about it before. Research time!

Seriously though Senkosam, posted on another thread about where lilly pads grow, it was a post on Lilly Pads as I recall. ???

pooper
lilly pads have and exposed root system the root kinda runs along the bottom with small "veins" of little roots shot off and burrow in to the mud bottom. please note lilly pads die each year even in a clean bottom lake. the pads them selves make like tree leaves in the woods they turn into a goopy mess and lie on the floor of the lake.kinda like mulch..

hydrilla's are floating aquatic plants, unfortunately they spread uncontrollably. Have a friend that does pond maintenance and he said you can through 1 hydrilla in a pond and within a year they will cover it. Sawgrass can grow from most surfaces, IE: look at most Fl lakes- sand or muck. 8)
