Re: plastics
Jordan-could you get a little more specific? What are you using, how are you trying to rig them, etc.

02,
And this is coming from someone who spells equipm(a)nt, instead of equipm(e)nt!!! "He who lives in glass houses should ball in the basement" JackL |

Re: plastics
OK. Â*Sounds like you are using a Texas rig. Â*Here is how you rig it:
http://www.bassfishingusa.com/rigging/rigging1.html You want to use a hook that is matched to the size of the worm. Â*For example, with a 6" worm would use a 1/0 or 2/0 hook, and as you move up in the size of worm you want to increase your hook size. To fish it, cast it out and let it sink to the bottom. Â*Reel up the slack, then raise your rod tip. Â*That will lift the worm off the bottom and when you stop it falls back. Â*Most hits come on the fall. Â*If you feel a hit, reel down to it and set the hook with a sharp raise of the rod tip. Worms don't work 100% of the time, so you need to learn other baits and techniques to catch bass consistently. Â*Hope this helps. Jack, LMAO! |

Re: plastics
I'm also a freshmen in high school. You might need to let them take it a little longer before setting the hook.

Are you sure they're bass? Panfish often nibble around the tail and bass often engulf the lure. When you set the hook are you feeling any initial resistance? |

Re: plastics
After re-reading the post I'm with Marty-sounds like panfish grabbing the tail.

Re: plastics
If your kinda new to plastics in your line up of bass catchin' methods, the best advise I can give is to pre punch the barb of the hook through the plastic, then recede the barb into the plastic to make it weedless. What this does is makes the hook go through the plastic worm and gives a better hookset on the bass's hard mouth
