Re: crankbaiting ponds?
I usually use a 1/8 oz. Sliver/Blue Rat - L - Trap. These work the best IMO.

Re: crankbaiting ponds?
Yeah I fish a lot of ponds. While some anglers insist on downsizing while fishing ponds, unless the bass in the pond are relatively small I hold to the general rule big baits catch big bass. The only other time I downsize is when fishing in cold fronts. I prefer using shallow crankbaits. My favorite would have to be Mann's 1 minus in Alabama Shad, Baby Bass, and Fire Shad.

Re: crankbaiting ponds?
I don't downsize in ponds, but I've caught abunch of fish in ponds on shallow runnin' cranks and decent luck with ones that run to about 5 ft.

Re: crankbaiting ponds?
it all depends on conditions/forage, if I know there is a ton of baitfish in the pond and the bass are mainly feeding on them agressively I will toss a crank or two,

Re: crankbaiting ponds?
ive never used a crankbait, although i do have 1 in my box. now is this a bait that you use the "walk the dog" technique?

Re: crankbaiting ponds?
nope, walk the dog is for zara spooks. for a crank, it will wobble as you reel it in. but to make it move eratically, give your rod twitches.
