Another first
Had something happen tonight that never happened before-In all my years of fishing this was the first time I had a game warden check my fishing license. We both had one, so no problem. I was just glad to see there was someone patrolling the lake. He said that fishermen are a breath of fresh air on that lake-apparently the idiots in ski boats and jet skis are the real problem. That's a big surprise, ain't it ;D?

Re: Another first
Only time I was ever asked was when I went to fish a new lake that just opened and a ranger asked me for my license and I had just turned sixteen like three days ago and I had forgot to get mine because its not something you think about if you never needed one before. I should get a IL license too because day permits get expensive.

Re: Another first
I got checked on the elk river for the first time in alabama a few weeks ago. I realized when I saw him approaching that I forgot to bring my dirver's (and hence vessel) license, but he only asked for the fishing license and to see the livewell and lifejackets. He was very professional, a breath of fresh air.

Rebbasser, Here you will get checked for fishing licenses every time out, it doesn't matter what body of water your fishing, from a boat to fishing off the shoreline.A freind of mine got a ticket Saturday because the lures hung down and touched the water on two of the rods he wasn't using, while he was fshing a third lure on the rod he was using at the same time. I got checked twice for a license by the same DEC officer , but the third time he rembered he had already checked me and my livewell to see if I was over the limit . P N J

Re: Another first
So far I've never been checked. The wardens passing by have just looked casually to see if we display our license. Pig-N-Jig, that is one tough warden. I forgot my license one time and i asked a warden if I could fish. He said yes but stey in one spot for the day. I was fishing Lake Erie for salmon.
